To the Editor: Skin ulcerations have occasionally been reported as adverse drug reactions.1D'Epiro S. Salvi M. Alopecia induced by tumour necrosis factor-alpha antagonists: description of 52 cases and disproportionality analysis in a nationwide pharmacovigilance database.

OBJECTIVES The aim of this research was to describe the cases of TNF-α antagonist-related alopecia reported in the French Pharmacovigilance Database (FPVD) and to investigate the association between exposure to TNF-α antagonists and occurrence of alopecia. METHODS All spontaneous reports of TNF-α antagonist-related alopecia recorded in the FPVD between January 2000 and April 2012 were colliga...

Use of Measures of Disproportionality in Pharmacovigilance

Spontaneous reporting systems for suspected adverse drug reactions (ADRs) remain a cornerstone of pharmacovigilance. In The Netherlands ‘the Netherlands Pharmacovigilance Foundation Lareb’ maintains such a system. A primary aim in pharmacovigilance is the timely detection of either new ADRs or a change of the frequency of ADRs that are already known to be associated with the drugs involved, i.e...

Drug-Induced Progressive Multifocal Leukoencephalopathy: A Comprehensive Analysis of the WHO Adverse Drug Reaction Database.

OBJECTIVE To identify safety signals concerning the association between the use of various drug classes and the onset of progressive multifocal leukoencephalopathy (PML). METHODS All reports containing suspected or interacting PML-related or leukoencephalopathy-related drugs, held in the World Health Organization spontaneous individual case safety reports database as at 1 September 2014, were...

Montelukast-induced metamorphopsia in a pediatric patient: A case report and a pharmacovigilance database analysis.

Metamorphopsia is a type of optic illusion in which the size, shape, or angulation of objects is perceived as altered. Individuals typically see lines as wavy or curly instead of straight and flat surfaces as curved [1]. It is a rare manifestation of an acute central nervous system insult, mainly to the visual or vestibular systems [1]. It is a symptom caused by disorders of the retina or choro...
